Vale Mr Stan Perron

Message from the Governor

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Mr Stan Perron AM, founder and Chairman of Perron Group.

As well as his significant contribution to Australian business, Stan generously gave back to the Western Australian community and his family’s philanthropy will leave a lasting legacy in our State.

The Stan Perron Charitable Foundation, established in 1978, has donated tens of millions of dollars to charities, particularly those working to improve children’s health.

Western Australia’s excellent reputation for medical research is in indebted to the generosity of the Perron family.

For more than 30 years, Stan and his wife Jean contributed to research into muscular dystrophy and other neurological conditions, initially supporting the work of the former Western Australian Neuroscience Research Institute founder, Byron Kakulas. In 2016, in honour of the Perron family’s ongoing support, the Institute changed its name to the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science.

Our State owes much to Stan. He was a beacon of unselfishness and care. He was a person of the finest integrity who set an outstanding example for us all, and he will be greatly missed.

Jean and his family are in our thoughts and prayers.

The Honourable Kim Beazley AC, Governor of Western Australia
